Tummy Time Surprise!

All the parenting advice I read told us to make sure that Jake spends some supervised time each day on his stomach to help build up the muscles in his back and neck. Since babies these days are placed on their backs to go to sleep, they don't spend a whole lot of time on their stomachs and tend to get fussy when placed face down. So we would try to give him some tummy time, but Jake used to HATE being on his stomach!

Imagine my surprise (at 2 am) last night when I went to check on the fussing little boy and found him on his belly! I knew he recently learned to roll onto his side, but I had never seen him turn over onto his belly before! I put him back on his side, gave him the binkie, and went back to bed.

We fed him at 7 am (okay, Ralph fed him and I slept), and Ralph put Jake back in the crib while I took a shower. Here is how Jake was placed in his crib when I got in the shower:

And this is what I saw when I got out of the shower 15 minutes later!

Apparently someone is on the move! Our little 19 week old is going to be attempting to climb out of his crib before we know it! here he is smiling as usual, but this time it's while he is on his belly!

Jake meets the Boyacks this weekend!

I can't wait for this weekend when Jake will meet his dad's first cousins from California. The Boyack kids are about the most photogenic four kids on earth. They range in age from 7 to 11, and I can't wait to see them react to baby Jake! Photos opportunities at every turn! Here are the Boyack kids at our wedding almost 2 years ago...

Gavin is looking forward to not being the youngest anymore!

Jake & Uncle Danny

So I was just going thru my 18 gazillion pictures and came across this one of Jake and my brother at my parents house. I guess my mom had taken this with her camera at some point and I downloaded it off her memory card and stuck it on my computer and forgot about it. I assume Dan probably won't check this out, because, according to him "the internet is boring." Oh well, still a cute picture of Jake and his godfather. :) I like how Jake is going for the "Jack Daniels" logo on Dan's shirt. Jake tried to pull the Puma logo off of Ralph's shirt the other day. Ah, discovering logos at such a young age. This graphic designer momma is so proud!

And here is a picture of Danny and I, in our kitchen (back at the old, old house) in West Chester PA, circa 1982. Ralph thinks Jake (now) looks a lot like Danny (then). I love this picture!!

This is wild!!! I always thought Jake took after the Valentine side...

My Favorite Picture

Jake sent this picture to Daddy for his birthday. Ralph was very impressed at Jake's ability to send email at such a young age. Jake even has his own email account! (Okay, he got a little help from Mom)

Here are some pictures Ralph took the other night - I even let him use the fancy camera! :)

He told me not to put the top one on the blog - but how could I not??? OMG, it's soooo funny!

Perhaps we should have named the baby 'Ralph the third' afterall...

There are very few pictures of Jake and I together. And I even LIKE this one!

Baby Shrek!

Jake had a little trouble getting his onesie on the other night - tell me he doesn't look like Shrek! Ha!
