Jake Parties with Jess & Bill

My cousin Shane was getting married to the very lovely Tina this weekend and we were very excited to go to the wedding. Jake, however, is still a bit young for weddings. My aunt Nancy was kind enough to accept babysitting duty for part of the day, and then took him over to cousin Jessica & Bill's house for the late afternoon and evening until we got home from the wedding. We weren't sure how Jake would respond to new surroundings and new babysitters, but he seemed to have a great time! Jess and Bill and Aunt Nancy seemed to have a good time babysitting as well. Here are some pictures Jess sent us afterward, along with a note offering to take Jake off our hands - we could just have "another baby." Tee hee












I think Jake may have enjoyed the furry companions as much as the human ones! Jake is quite the animal lover!

"Say Water!"

Somewhere along the line, Jake thought this was the way to pronounce "WATER." It made Ralph and I crack up, so I ran for the camera and made him do it over and over. (The camera runs out of battery at the end and cuts off, but it's still pretty funny).

So what do you do when you have 250 sticky plastic play balls, and one dirty toddler? Throw all of the above into the bathtub, of course! Jake had a great time today in Grandma & Grandpa's big bathtub and Mama had a great time snapping pictures in the bright sunny room.

Halloween 2007

Jake was dressed as a cow, because it's so much fun getting him to say "MOOOO!" (and it was on sale at Babies R Us for $4.99). Ruth was dressed as a princess because it was the only dog costume in her size at Old Navy (and I can't find the box that has her tutu costume from last year). The neighborhood kids seemed to enjoy seeing a dog in costume. :)

Ralph took Jake (and the camera) around the neighborhood while Ruthie and I passed out candy. I think they had a good time!

I threw together his trick-or-treat pail in about 3 minutes - double-stick tape, a sheet of white paper, and a sharpie, and I can create ANYTHING! (Yes, it's his sand bucket from the beach - we have limited resources here!)

Carving our pumpkins....

My little artist works intently on his pumpkin. Jake and all of the pumpkins needed a bath after our messy crafting. Unfortunately, the pen that came in our carving kit was water-based and so all of our art work washed away. :( I still tried to make something cool out of it (see last pic, far right).



I tried getting fancy with some cookie cutters, but ended up splitting a pumpkin instead... Jake used some of the extra heart cutters as bracelets, or, maybe, 'bicep jewelery'... tee hee

I was totally proud of mine! I based it on a template we had, but I drew it freehand and cut it out myself. Pretty spiffy, huh? :)



Our finished pumpkins, displayed on the radiator. Just a tip kids, don't LEAVE pumpkins on a radiator all night... By the next evening, they all looked like old people without their dentures in....
