I'm sending this prayer request out into the world because it is bigger than me, and bigger than what I am able to shoulder alone.
A dear friend of mine has lost her entire home in a fire. She was fortunate enough not to be at the house when it was burning, and her husband and two young daughters are all safe and accounted for.
However, every single possession they owned is gone. Every last kitchen utensil. Every piece of furniture. Every stitch of clothing. Every photograph. Each toy that Santa Claus brought this year. Melted, covered in soot and ash, destroyed by fire, smoke, water, or all three.
They are living with family right now and are a part of a caring, devoted community. But I feel there is more we can offer them. Please pray for my friend Melissa and her family. She is a strong woman but I don't think she can handle this without prayer. If you feel so moved, please pass this to friends and family who will pray for her well-being, for her daughter to not be afraid, for life to move on more normally, and for their sense of security to be restored, as well as their worldly possessions. I am purchasing a few gift cards to send to her so that she can purchase the day-to-day items we all take for granted: toothbrushes, underwear, a few toys for her toddler and her school-aged daughter. If you feel moved to donate something, please contact me and I will get these items to her.
Please also send your prayers to my youngest cousin Caley, who has made two trips to the emergency room in as many weeks. She is healing, but in need of your prayers and support.

She's so young - I remember her from that 06 post....
Oh my goodness, Kelly! What good friend you are to ask for prayers on her behalf. On Christmas Eve, a student of mine (one of my best) experienced similar devastation when her mom lit a candle, and a few hours later, their house was gone. Luckily, she, her younger sister, and their one-year-old little brother and parents got out safely, but my heart was aching for them. My class donated money to get her a gift card (their idea) and I was so touched to see students who typically don't seem to care doing anything they could to help. I feel for your friend as well, and she will most certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope your cousin Caley is doing better as well. She will have a place in my prayers, too!

I am sending prayers up for your friend Melissa. Thank goodness they are all ok. Lives can not be replaced but tangible things can. You are a good friend.
I was so touched by your prayer request for Caley. She is doing better, back to school, one good thing she gets out of gym class till April:) Her hand is healing she is to get the stitches out this weekend. Still has pain, it will be a while till it is healed and useable. Again, thank you for the prayer request and prayer responses.
