Pictures from famished friday

When I post frequently, especially after a blogging hiatus, I feel like some of the posts get buried. So do me a favor and always be sure to scroll down to see if there are other new posts since the last time you checked in. Wouldn't want you to miss anything! :)

So Jake kept me pretty well distracted from packing today, but we have an official move date - hurray! - May 7th is the big day.

Today Jake seemed hungrier than usual. He ate the following: two complete sticks of string cheese; a few kernels of corn; one spoonful of organic corn & summer squash (rejected, given to Ruthie); a strawberry frozen whole fruit bar (I ate these by the dozen when I was pregnant) in the baby safe feeder (two more teeth just cut on top); a whole container of yo-baby apple yogurt; two mashed-up turkey sticks (more in his hair and on the floor than in his mouth); one bite of vegetable beef baby food (also rejected and then eaten by the dog); two bites of mama's fresh mozzerella with balsamic vinegar (I didn't think he'd like it, I was wrong); a few bites of diced cucumber (mostly rejected by baby and dog, so mom ate the rest - yum!); lots of Cheerios; organic freeze-dried apples and strawberries for toddlers; as many bites of mama's pizza as she would allow (Ruthie and Jake both begged for this); baby zweiback toast; two bottles of whole milk; one bottle of water; and two bottles of juice. I try to at least offer him a balanced menu, but he seems to really dig fruits and dairy. This kid is not feelin' the vegetables. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree...pardon the pun.

So here are some shots I took today of the world's hungriest and dirtiest baby. I must have used two dozen baby wipes today and he still looks like this. I have found that if I make any kind of goofy noise, he will let me do whatever I want to him. Wiping his nose is normally considered torture, until I come at him with a baby wipe chanting: "Bllllliim! Pooooow! Bazoooom!" Then it's a game.

Jake eats with PIZAZZ!

He has learned the word MAMA and knows I respond to it. Not sure if he knows what it means, but he repeats it contantly, because I respond. (Cute bib is one of the new ones from My Dolce Baby.)

Jake enjoys beating the television with his yellow duck and yellow fish.

Taking a break from beating the television to see what mama is yelling about.

"Uh-oh!"

Jake has been learning lots of new thing lately, including the phrase "uh-oh!" He enjoys using it whenever possible. Just a few minutes ago, he dangled a piece of cheese off the side of his high chair, and intentionally dropped it to Ruthie, who was waiting patiently below. Jake looked back at me and pronounced: "Uh-oh!"

Big Boy Haircut

Jake's hair had become quite long in the back, and also on the sides again. I took him to Kids Kuts today and he sat in one of the carousel-type seats, got to wear a smock, and had them use the clippers on him. I think it turned out very nice and I was so surprised how calm and cooperative Jake was throughout. He was very interested in a lollipop on our way out, so I figured, eh, why not? He LOVED the Strawberry Dum-Dum and licked it until it was gone! We were just left with a sopping wet paper stick and two very sticky little hands!

BTW: this adorable bib is from My Dolce Baby - I added a permanent link on the right. Kim makes all kinds of great stuff for moms and babies. She rocks!

More new pictures from NY

Here is Jake on his little toy that converts from a rider to a walker. Aunt Barb got it for him for Christmas. He likes to walk behind it on the rug so it doesn't go too fast, but he really likes sitting on it and being pushed around by his mama. Here he is enjoying a ride on Tuesday, before we came back home to pack. Mema Mary took these pictures too. I took some pictures recently, but everything is on hold while I try to pack and get this messy dump house on the market. Pictures will be up on the photography blog, hopefully soon, of Chrissy & Jeremy's wedding in Philly this past weekend. Awesome weather, sweet location, so much fun!

I know you guys are sick of looking at that old Easter post...

Sorry, I've just been a *little* busy lately - running two small businesses, raising a one year old, keeping a dog happy, trying to pack an entire house by myself, getting the house on the market, trying to stay sane while only seeing my husband on the weekends, traveling back and forth to NY, etc etc etc. Needless to say, I've been busy busy busy lately. Jake was staying with his Mema and Papa so I could get some work done in the house. Luckily, SOMEONE is still taking pictures of Jake! Mema Mary emailed me these pictures today. I know everyone is curious about when the big move is going to happen: I'm calling movers this week - get me outta Delaware! I miss living together as a family!!! The house will be on the market ASAP.

Enjoy the new pics:

Easter

So I didn't take any of the "typical" Easter pictures - no baby with easter basket, or even baby wearing bunny ears. Jake didn't even get to wear his cute Easter outfit from Grandma Valentine because the weather was too darn cold. :( BUT, I did manage to get a few pictures from Easter at Aunt Bunny's (how appropriate!). Enjoy!

Grandpa sees if Jake likes cherry cheesecake. He does. SHOCKER! (Jake's mama would live on cherry cheesecake if it was possible...)

Jake pauses to discuss current events with cousin Stephanie (Kyler's mom)

Jake and Kyler both find that a chair seat is the best toy of all.

Jake explains to Kyler that "I saw it first!"

A particularly nice picture of Jake with his uncle Danny, if I do say so myself.

Jake makes us a... uhm... "easter egg." He gave us a few nice Easter presents that day. HA!

New words

After spending a week with Mema Mary, Jake came back knowing how to say "Thank You" (in Jakenese: "TAAA-KU!"). Ever since, I have been trying to teach him new words. Here's how it's going so far:

(Holding up a duck in the bathtub last night)
ME: Jake, say "DUCK! DUCK!"
JAKE: "Duhhh... DA DA!"

(Feeding Jake)
ME: Say "MORE! MOOORE!"
JAKE: "Mmmuuu... MA MA!"

(Jake waves a spoon at dinner time)
ME: "Jake, say SPOON! SPOOOON!"
JAKE: "DA DA!"

Yeah... he might have to go back to Mema's if he ever wants to learn anything other than "DADA" and "MAMA"....
