Prayers Needed

My dad (also known around here as "Peepa Jim") is in need of your prayers. He is okay, but he was injured in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.

He has been a motorcycle rider since I was in college (I also got my motorcycle license around the same time), and when the weather was so beautiful on Saturday, there was no doubt in my mind where my dad would be. My mom was in town visiting us for the weekend when she got the call no one ever wants to get. Thank God my dad was able to walk away from the accident with minor injuries, but he is in a fair amount of pain.

A car pulled out in front of him while he was cresting a hill and he broke a bit too hard and the tail end of the bike fishtailed. The bike skidded for quite a distance, as did my father. Thank the Lord he is a responsible rider and always wears protective gear. His full-face helmet has a huge scrape across the front of it. Road rash is no fun (thank God I don't know that firsthand) but I can't imagine what road rash would feel like on your face. And people wonder why I cringe seeing someone wear one of those little helmets that just cover your skull.

My father went to the hospital after the accident and was discharged the same day. He lost a lot of skin on his knees and his foot, he cracked a rib, and needed stitches in his elbow, and banged up both of his wrists pretty bad. He is uncomfortable, but was given medication for the pain and is doing better today than he was yesterday.

I want to again thank God for protecting him from further injury, and ask for prayers for his pain to subside and for him to heal quickly and without complications.

Someone else who is need of prayers is my blog friend Hilary's husband Rich (MckMama's brother in law), who is back in the hospital.

My heart sank when I read the first few lines. What a terrible phone call to receive I'm sure. Praise God that your dad is ok! I'll be praying for him (and Rich).

Kel,

Thanks to all for the kind words and prayers. I'm not one to preach, but I'd like to show my face shield to all riders who think it's cool to ride without a helmet. If my face looked like my left knee, I'd be facing a long recovery.

Looking forward to some Batman & Supergirl photos to cheer me up!

Kelly,

Thank goodness for God's divine intervention on Saturday as your dad and my brother hit the black top rolling at 50 mph. It is truly a miracle that he was able to get up and walk away and that no cars were coming in the oncoming lane where he ended up at the bottom of a hill. I received the call from Aunt Nacy on Sun. morning. I called and talked to him on Sun. night and told him I couldn't believe he hadn't called me. He replied, "Well, I didn't want to call and upset anyone!" UGH! Well instead of being mad I was just grateful that I was able to hear his voice on the other end of the phone. Thank you Lord for watching out for him and sending your angels to protect him.

Oh, Kelly! I don't know how I missed this posting on my dashboard, but forgive me for not responding until now! So glad to hear that your father is okay, but what a scare. Motorcycles have always scared me (You have your license!?! You are full of surprises!), but I am grateful that your dad is such a responsible rider. He is in my prayers for a quick recovery.

That must have been so very scary and I'm just so thankful your dad thinks its "cool" to wear his helmet!

Jake was an adorable Batman! Glad he got to have a little sidekick :)

Thank YOU for praying for my husband and for linking to me. That was really sweet of you and I appreciate it very much.
Blessings to you and I hope you are doing well!
