Smell Ya Later, Daycare!

Ok, here it is! It's BIG ANNOUNCEMENT time!!!

TODAY WAS THE DAY I GOT TO GIVE DAYCARE OUR TWO-WEEK NOTICE! That's right - no more sick baby, no more stupid rules, no more nasty daycare staff, no more sniffly noses, no more sick notices, no more stolen binkies, no more $600 a month childcare, no more filthy white socks, no more french fry incidents! We're DONE!

Why this sudden change you may ask? Well, on Monday, Ralph was offered a position with a Wall Street firm in Great Neck, NY that deals in hedge funds. It was a great offer, with a great company, and we would be crazy to turn it down. Ralph's new position will allow me to stop working my 9-to-5 job every day, and to stay home with Jake while I freelance full-time. I am beyond thrilled at the opportunities that lay ahead for our family. We will be putting our house on the market and moving to NY soon. We are actually going to be renovating Ralph's grandfather's house and living there. Jake will be the fifth generation of Ralph's family to live in this house! Very cool!

While Delaware has been the butt of more than a few jokes from me, I do still think I will miss it. I will miss the awesome friends I made (come visit!!!!), I will miss the memories of all the "firsts" that Ralph and I had here. I will miss our cute little townhouse. I will miss tax-free shopping. I will miss Wawa. Most of all, I will miss being so close to all my family in PA. But I am sooo excited and I am happy to share the news with you all. I will keep you posted!!! :)

Congrats Kelly and Ralph!!
Steph told us about this possibility for you and looks like it worked out. What town is the house in? Just wondering how far away you will be living.

Extra great news for Jake and the daycare thing. One thing I can tell you though, that was pretty inexpensive. I think the day cares Steph looked at around here were $250. per week!

You and your parents seem to be good about driving and traveling, so hopefully you will still make the family gatherings, we sure hope so. (Maybe your parents will move back this way a little, it would be closer to you!)

Best of luck!!

Thanks! :) We will be living in Eastchester, NY. It is about a half-hour from NYC.

And yes, scary to say, the $155 a week we were paying for caycare is relatively cheap, even for Delaware. They should tell teenagers that fact in sex-ed classes. Might bring that teen pregnancy rate waaaay down. LOL

Congratulations!! That's great that you'll have the opportunity to be home with Jake and freelance! And hopefully you'll still be able to come home for family functions. Good luck with everything!!! Can you still be our preferred photographer? :-)

Absolutely!! :)

I already have some spring & summer wedding jobs booked/in the works in the Philly area, so I'll be around! I am sooooo excited to finally be able to design and photograph on my own full-time!! Takin' it to the next level!

P.S. - Kristen - did you get my email about scheduling Maddy's one year portraits?

Kelly -
Congratulations! You had mentioned the move as a possibility a few months ago at one of the book clubs. What an awesome opportunity for you guys! We will definitely miss you and baby Jake at book club!! Any idea how soon you will be moving? Will you be able to join us for the March meeting?
BTW...wow...super cheap daycare. I am jealous (although I realize that I shouldn't be) of your cheap daycare and now your opportunity to stay home with Jake. Good Luck!!!

Congratulations to Ralph on the new job and to both of you on the move. The whole thing: job, house, the great area, staying at home and freelancing; it is all really clicking for you guys. I'm so happy it all worked out and so fast. Good luck with everything.
And yeah with the cheap daycare. I pay almost that much for 3 half days! Maybe we should move to Delaware...not!
